The phony that is Josh Hamilton

Not going to lie, when Josh Hamilton played for the Rangers, I supported him.  When he had his problems with the demons that derailed his baseball career for a couple of years, I supported him.  When Josh was struggling at the plate, swinging for the fences at every pitch, and striking out more times than not, I supported him.  Today, as Josh parades around in his Anaheim Angels outfit, hiding behind God, and accusing Texas Ranger fans for not being "real baseball fans", I have stopped supporting him.

Josh is not the first athlete, especially here in Dallas, that hid behind God when trouble found its way to him.  Michael Irvin did it, Deion Sanders did it, and Alex Rodriguez did it.  Apparently God wasn't with him when he chose to "raw dawg it" in the restroom at Sherlocks in Dallas.  God wasn't with him when he was struggling from his "chewing tabacco" addiction.  Let's face it, God wasn't with him when he had his struggles when he came into the majors.  But, according to him, God told him to go to the Angels (odd way to put that).  Nevermind that he received $123 million from the Angels, all in hopes of keeping up with The Rangers and A's.  He tells us that he will give half the money to whatever church he's a part of.  Really???

When Josh left Texas, he told reporters, who he always felt he was in a pissing war with, that Texas Ranger fans weren't "real baseball fans".  He said that Dallas was more of a football town.  Josh, real Ranger fans have sat through the piss poor years, and believe me, there were a ton of them.  Every year, we watched our hapless Ranger team lose night after night to teams that overpaid players left and right and made trades that could better their teams.  We sat through the Alex Rodriguez years, where The Rangers overpaid for a player who put up empty numbers year after year, didn't help market the team he played for, and whined his way to The Yankees, all so he can get a ring.  The Yankees have found out what a cancer he was to the locker room, and from all accounts, his career might be over.  Just because we started winning a couple of years ago, with you on the team, don't think that Ranger fans aren't real baseball fans.  We suffered along with our teams.

Josh's contributions to the Rangers can't go forgotten.  You were a wonderful part for the Rangers when the whole firefighter falling out of the stands and dying took place.  Standing besides his widow and son, Cooper (same name as my kiddo), brought tears to everybody's eyes.  Like Lebron James, you picked up talents and moved somewhere else, but you didn't have to bury the fans than helped put you where you are!
